Meet Nalo Merriman
Nalo Merriman was born in New York City. She is an actress, producer, screenplay writer, and social change activist. Nalo means, a beautiful gift of God. According to family, friends cast, fans, supporters and acquaintances it is an appropriate name. Merriman’s passion to change the world utilizing her gift of expression in theatre, acting and social advocacy is the energy that flows throughout her life and career. Entertainment became her passion at five (5) years old. Being exposed to the entertainment industry caused Merriman to pursue excellence in her academic studies as a right to participate in theatre. Having access to theater training during high school had a profound impact on her career focus in mental health. She began the journey of advocating for social change by writing plays that focus on healing the issues of our communities and dealing with the public health crisis of mental health, addiction, corruption, lack of proper educational support, poverty, promiscuity and social dis-unity. Her passion to bring applicable solutions to real people with difficult situation was birthed to encourage people to make decisions that lead to a better life. Merriman plans to invite communities across the nation to embrace mental health solutions, her stage plays and social advocacy programs. Merriman’s love for stage plays was birthed at Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. Northwestern High School theater program began acting career. She began starring key roles in Grease, WestSide Story and Romeo & Juliet.
